Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D is Chief Exercise Physiologist/Vice President of Educational Services at ACE Fitness (www.acefitness.org).
Dr. Bryant joined ACE as chief exercise physiologist and vice president of educational services in 2001. Prior to joining ACE, Dr. Bryant served as a senior vice president for StairMaster Health and Fitness Products Inc., where he was responsible for research, development and design of all StairMaster product lines. In addition, he led StairMaster’s Sports Medicine and Technical Service areas. Dr. Bryant’s experience also includes serving on the exercise science faculties of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Pennsylvania State University and Arizona State University.
Dr. Bryant lectures nationally and internationally on many topics related to exercise, fitness and nutrition. He is an accomplished writer, having authored or co-authored 14 books and nearly 200 articles in magazines including ACE Certified News, Fitness Management, IDEA Personal Trainer and Shape, as well as sports medicine and fitness journals such as the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise. Dr. Bryant also serves as a health and fitness expert for various media outlets, including USA Today, Washington Post, New York Times, Parade Magazine and CNN Headline News.
An active member and fellow of the American College of Sports and Medicine, Dr. Bryant has served on ACSM’s Certification Committee, was an associate editor of ACSM’s Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, 5th edition, and is an ACSM-certified exercise specialist. He is also the chairman of the scientific advisory board for the American Council on Exercise and serves as the technical editor for all ACE publications.
Dr. Bryant earned both his doctorate in physiology and master’s degree in exercise science from Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife, Ginger, reside in Redmond, Washington, with their four, very physically active sons.
